SUMMARY:Call for Self-Nominations: Founding Leadership Roles for the AOM Teaching Community
DESCRIPTION:Self-nominations must be received by October 10\, 2026.  \n\n\n\nAOM is seeking self-nominations for the following founding leadership roles during its three-year pilot:  \n\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n	\n		Teaching Community Founding Chair 	\n	\n					\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n		\n\nThe Teaching Community Founding Chair will provide strategic leadership and coordination for the Teaching Community. This individual will help develop the Community’s leadership structure\, recruit and engage volunteer committee chairs\, shape initial priorities across the three pillars of the Teaching Community\, and champion the Community’s vision across AOM.  \n\n\n\nThis is a unique opportunity for someone energized by building something new and helping shape an initiative that elevates the status and support for teaching within AOM. The ideal candidate will bring a demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning in management\, leadership experience and credibility within AOM and/or the broader management education community\, and the ability to build and convene a new community. Candidates should also be able to engage colleagues across disciplines\, career stages\, geographic regions\, and DIGs\, and have the time to provide active leadership during the Community’s founding phase.  \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTeaching Community Committee Leaders\n\n\n\nDuring its three-year pilot phase\, the Teaching Community leadership structure includes five committees\, each responsible for advancing a priority area.  Initial committee leadership appointments will be for one year\, allowing priority work to move forward while preserving flexibility for the Community’s leadership structure to evolve during the pilot. These initial leadership appointments offer an opportunity to shape and advance a specific area of the Teaching Community while contributing to the development of the broader initiative. Committee leaders will work with the Teaching Community Founding Chair\, other volunteer leaders\, AOM staff\, and relevant Divisions & Interest Groups to develop priorities\, engage volunteers\, and implement activities.  \n\n\n\nAOM is seeking self-nominations for leaders of the following committees:  \n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n	\n		Community Engagement Committee	\n	\n					\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n		\n\nThe Community Engagement Committee will help create an active and connected community within AOM where members who are passionate about teaching can connect and collaborate across disciplines\, career stages\, and geographic regions. The committee will help shape engagement through AOM’s online Teaching Community\, welcome new members\, spotlight educators from diverse institutions and regions\, and seed and moderate discussions that spark connection and collaboration among educators.  \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n	\n		Annual Meeting Teaching Track Committee 	\n	\n					\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n		\n\nBuilding on the momentum of the inaugural Teaching Track at AOM 2026\, this committee will shape and conceptualize the next iteration of the Teaching Track for AOM 2027 in Vienna\, Austria. This committee will identify and curate teaching-focused programming that elevates the visibility of cross-disciplinary teaching and learning.  \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n	\n		Teaching Resource Library Committee	\n	\n					\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n		\n\nThis committee will curate a cross-disciplinary online Teaching Resource Library of interactive exercises\, case studies\, multimedia content\, syllabi\, and data sets accessible to all members. This committee will set the criteria for the library\, peer review submissions\, propose how resources are organized\, and establish recognition for members who share their best teaching materials.  \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n	\n		Teaching Webinars Committee	\n	\n					\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n		\n\nTo provide teaching support throughout the year\, this committee will design and deliver a series of professional development webinars that enable all members — from students to seasoned professors — to sharpen the practice of teaching. This committee will identify timely topics\, recruit speakers from across the AOM community\, and grow the community’s webinar series.  \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n	\n		Teaching Conferences Committee 	\n	\n					\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n		\n\nThis committee will help shape and lead the development of future AOM in-person teaching conferences\, bringing together management educators from around the world to exchange ideas\, share teaching innovations\, and connect with colleagues. The committee will help develop the approach to these events\, including format\, timing\, location\, and programming\, and will engage collaborators and members in their development.  \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSelf-Nomination Process and Procedures\n\n\n\nAOM welcomes self-nominations from members who:  \n\n\n\n\nHave made contributions to the service of teaching\, and \n\n\n\nAre a member of the Academy of Management in good standing. \n\n\n\n\nMembers interested in the leadership roles are asked to submit a self-nomination that includes:  \n\n\n\n\nName\, affiliation\, and contact information \n\n\n\nCurrent curriculum vitae \n\n\n\nThe leadership role or roles you are interested in (you may express interest in more than one) \n\n\n\nA statement (300 words or less) that addresses: \n\n\n\nWhy you are interested in joining the Teaching Community’s founding leadership; \n\n\n\nWhat you bring to the Teaching Community; and \n\n\n\nHow you would shape the Teaching Community \n\n\n\n\nSelf-nominations will be reviewed by the AOM Teaching Committee. Members interested in a role are welcome to reach out to teaching@aom.org with questions.  \n\n\n\nEmail your self-nomination to teaching@aom.org by October 10. \n\n\n\n\n\nSelection Process\n\n\n\nThe AOM Teaching Committee will review self-nominations and consider candidates based on the experience and leadership qualities described above. Some candidates for the Teaching Community Founding Chair may be invited to a brief conversation with Committee representatives before the Founding Chair is selected. The Committee expects to complete the Founding Chair selection shortly after the nomination deadline.  \n\n\n\nCandidates expressing interest in Teaching Community Committee leadership roles will be considered as the Community’s initial leadership is assembled. Committee leadership appointments may be made at different points based on the needs and timing of individual initiatives.  \n\n\n\nInformation Session\n\n\n\nThe AOM Board’s Teaching Committee will host an informational webinar in September for members interested in learning more about the Teaching Community and its founding leadership opportunities. She is a leading scholar of entrepreneurial expertise and the creator of effectuation theory. Dr. Indu Khurana is the Chair of the ENT Division Teaching Committee and Associate Professor of Economics and Business at Hampden-Sydney College.  \n\n\n\nWhat if entrepreneurial success isn’t about who you are\, but how you think?  \n\n\n\nMost entrepreneurship education still centers on writing detailed business plans: define the opportunity\, forecast the market\, secure funding\, and execute. Effectuation offers a different model grounded in how expert entrepreneurs actually operate. Rather than starting with a fixed goal and planning backward\, expert entrepreneurs start with what they have—their skills\, networks\, and resources—and take small actions to see what possibilities emerge. They form partnerships early to co-create the venture’s direction\, treat setbacks as information rather than failure\, and let their goals evolve as they learn. Instead of waiting for the perfect moment or opportunity\, entrepreneurs focus on what they can build right now.  \n\n\n\nWhy it matters for educators  \n\n\n\nAround the world\, effectuation is becoming a core framework for entrepreneurship education because it teaches students how expert entrepreneurs actually think. In this second Teaching Community webinar\, Saras Sarasvathy\, the creator of effectuation theory\, will explore how to teach effectuation in the classroom. By framing entrepreneurship as a learnable process rather than an innate talent\, educators will gain the skills to teach their students to build enduring ventures\, develop social enterprises that tackle complex challenges\, and forge entrepreneurial careers in a world being reshaped by AI.  \n\n\n\n\nRegistration

DESCRIPTION:Leveraging Estonia’s global reputation for producing more “unicorn” start-ups per capita than anywhere else in the world\, Estonian Business School is hosting the “Teaching Entrepreneurship in the Age of AI” workshop from November 9-10\, 2026. In partnership with AOM’s Community Accelerator Program and Entrepreneurship Division\, the workshop will strengthen the skills of business faculty and PhD students to foster the next generation of transformative entrepreneurs using research-based methods and real-world insights. \n\n\n\n\nRegistration Opens Soon\n\n\n\n\nContent:\n\n\n\n\nParticipants will learn effectuation\, the core framework for entrepreneurship education that teaches students how expert entrepreneurs actually think.
