SUMMARY:Call for Proposals for Research Methods Training Proposals from DIGs
DESCRIPTION:The AOM Board of Governors Methods Committee seeks strategic project proposals that creatively and meaningfully advance AOM’s Vision 2030: to advance our activities for all management scholars globally by expanding our content\, services\, and community. Funding Year: 2026Funding per Project: $2500 – $10\,000 \n\n\n\nProposal Submission\n\n\n\nThe application process for the strategic project fund is designed to be straightforward and efficient. (Please note some process changes have been adjusted since the initial 2025 launch of the DIG Strategic Project Fund CFP). \n\n\n\nMethods Training Proposal Submissions\n\n\n\nProposals will be submitted through a single-stage\, comprehensive application process*\, due no later than 14 September 2026. Each submission should include: \n\n\n\n\nContacts: Lead DIGs group members and names/affiliations of collaborators.\n\n\n\nSummary: A description of the project idea\, its innovative potential and the project goals.\n\n\n\nTarget audience: Discipline/subject matter\, intended career stage (graduate and doctoral student as primary focus)\, and geographic regions (if applicable).\n\n\n\nOriginality: The project must be original or a substantial extension/enhancement of an existing initiative.\n\n\n\nDIG Sponsorship: A brief statement by a DIG Executive Committee Member (or members if more than one DIG is involved) confirming that the DIG is a formal sponsor of the proposal.\n\n\n\nGovernance and implementation plan: Clear roles and responsibilities for developing\, implementing\, and disseminating the project.\n\n\n\nDeliverables and dissemination: Description of expected outputs and how they will be shared with the broader AOM community.\n\n\n\nTimeline and success metrics: Key milestones and criteria for evaluating project success.\n\n\n\nBudget: Estimated funding request and justification\, consistent with Strategic Project Fund guidelines.\n\n\n\n\nPrinciples for Projects and Project Teams\n\n\n\nThe creativity and passion found in Strategic Project Fund proposals reflect a shared interest in building an Academy that provides ever-better member services—all year long and beyond our current offerings. \n\n\n\nConsistent with the member-service ideal\, Project Teams are guided by the following principles in the execution of funded projects: \n\n\n\n\nProjects are for the benefit of the Academy’s membership\, or service to the broader field\, as approved. Funding supports costs for strategic projects undertaken by volunteers on behalf of the Academy of Management.\n\n\n\nProject work products generated through funded initiatives are considered AOM assets. Proposals should clearly outline plans for dissemination\, reuse\, and long-term accessibility of materials for the broader AOM community.\n\n\n\nProject teams are accountable to the Methods and Teaching Committees of the Board and to the membership\, on whose behalf they are working.\n\n\n\nProject Teams incorporate the feedback of the Board Committee reviewers\, if any\, into their activities.\n\n\n\nProject Teams\, operating under the purview of the Academy and with Academy funding\, promote high quality scholarship and standards in all activities.\n\n\n\nTransparency and fairness are paramount in all activities where members stand to gain from\, or where they may be excluded from opportunities to participate.\n\n\n\nProject Champion/Teams help the Academy and future members to learn from experience\, by documenting the procedures for activities and reporting to Board Committees on progress and against metrics for success\, if requested.\n\n\n\n\nResource Principles (Financial\, Human\, Technical)\n\n\n\nThe Academy responsibly manages its assets (human\, technical and financial). As such\, the following principles apply to the support of funded projects: \n\n\n\n\nOnce the project is approved\, funding will be immediately available for use.\n\n\n\nSubmission of the third-party expenses (vendors) should follow established AOM invoicing/expense reimbursement procedures.\n\n\n\nUpon successful project completion\, unused funds\, if any\, will remain available for DIG’s operational use. AOM’s financial policies apply in cases where the award includes additional funds designated for capacity building or other approved activity.\n\n\n\nAll project budget funds are approved on a “not to exceed” basis. Project teams may not re-engage the process to request additional funds in the same funding year. Overdrawing the project budget is not allowed.\n\n\n\nApproved project budget funds not expended in the timeframe to which they were approved do not carry over automatically beyond that time period (future fiscal years).\n\n\n\n\nFunding Preclusions\n\n\n\nThe following activities are precluded from funding: \n\n\n\n\nPayments to members for service.\n\n\n\nContributions to\, or sponsorships of other organizations.\n\n\n\nActivities that can/should be carried out as regular business of the DIGS (events and activities at the annual meeting\, awards\, catering\, regular travel\, program time).\n\n\n\nAOM membership or registration fees for current or former AOM members.\n\n\n\nMembership and registration fees paid to other organizations.\n\n\n\n\nFinancial Procedures\n\n\n\nSpecific financial procedures will accompany the notification of funded projects. \n\n\n\n\n\nOverarching Criteria for Evaluating Proposals\n\n\n\nWhen evaluating proposals\, Board Committees will strive to support projects that creatively and meaningfully advance AOM’s Vision 2030 enhancing our activities for all management scholars globally by expanding our content\, services\, and community. \n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n	\n\n\n	\n Step 1. Screen for Completeness and Funding Limit	\n	\n \n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n\nBefore evaluating the specifics of a proposal\, Board Committees will FIRST screen the proposal to ensure that it is complete and does not exceed the funding limit per proposal (10k). \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n	\n Step 2. Screen for Alignment	\n	\n \n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n\nWhen screening proposals for alignment with the aims of the fund\, the committee will consider the following: \n\n\n\n\nThe project is specific and clear\, and it addresses one or more of the areas of focus outlined in the call for proposals: Research Methods Training 2026 Call for Proposals\n\n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n	\n Step 3. Evaluate for Potential Support	\n	\n \n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n\nProposals that pass Steps 1 and 2 are evaluated in accordance with the review timeline. Board Committees will provide more favourable evaluations of projects with these attributes: \n\n\n\n\nNew and innovative\, adding value for AOM Members beyond traditional services and the annualmeeting.\n\n\n\nSupported by data indicating a need for the project.\n\n\n\nCan be completed (in phases or fully) within the designated timeframe.\n\n\n\nSubmitted by a Project Team that indicates capacity to complete the project.\n\n\n\nCarried out by a Project Team that reflects appropriate constituencies given the project.\n\n\n\nInvolves members from more than one division or interest group\, or other units of the AOM\, asTeam Members and/or as Collaborators.\n\n\n\nThe action steps\, metrics\, budget/resource requests are realistic.\n\n\n\nThe proposal contains no funding preclusions or other funding concerns.\n\n\n\nThe human\, technical\, and other requests of the HQ are considered and vetted by HQ.\n\n\n\nThe project adheres to the Fund’s principles for project champion/teams and resources.\n\n\n\n\n\nProject Team incorporates Board Committee feedback\, if applicable.\n\n\n\nProject and Project Team promote high quality scholarship/standards\n\n\n\nTransparency and project fairness are achievable\n\n\n\nProgress is measurable and documentable for learning by others\n\n\n\nProject does not obligate the DIG/AOM into the future

In general\, qualifications for an editor of an Academy publication include the following: \n\n\n\n\nSignificant scholarly contributions in management\, including publications associated with the mission of the journal.\n\n\n\nExtensive experience and an excellent reputation as a reviewer.\n\n\n\nExperience as an editorial board member or an editor of a management-related journal. Nominees do not need to be current members of editorial teams of Academy of Management publications to be nominated.\n\n\n\nDemonstrated commitment to diversity as reflected in the statement of values below.\n\n\n\nAbility to work constructively with authors\, reviewers\, and the Academy’s Board of Governors.\n\n\n\nDemonstrated administrative skills\, capacity to handle a demanding workload and meet deadlines.\n\n\n\nAbility to work with the managing editor virtually. We seek self-nominees who appreciate diversity in theoretical orientations and empirical contexts\, including those that are under-represented\, outside the mainstream\, and concern populations that are marginalized or hidden. We seek self- nominees that adhere to the belief that the full range of social experience must be represented in our scholarship and often these contributions are made by authors and reviewers from diverse backgrounds and locations \n\n\n\nNomination process and procedures\n\n\n\nSelf-nominations should include name(s)\, full address\, telephone number\, email address\, and current CV. We can provide editor job description and nomination search procedures on request. \n\n\n\n\nAll nominees will be asked to confirm their interest in pursuing the editorship at one of these journals by providing a personal statement (500 words or less) that outlines why the nominee is interested in this position. Nominees may apply individually or as a team of co-editors.\n\n\n\n\nThe selection process will move through three stages. \n\n\n\n\nStage 1: the CPC will review the initial nominations and request a fuller packet to be submitted by nominees that best fit the criteria above.\n\n\n\nStage 2: Applicants that move to the second stage will be asked to submit a detailed proposal of how they would further the goals of the journal as described in the editorial mission and values statements. Applicants may be asked to meet (virtually) with the CPC and provide references to support their editorial background and skills.\n\n\n\nStage 3: The CPC will forward a recommendation to the full Board of Governors who will finalize the recommendation.\n\n\n\n\nSelf-nominations will be considered until 25 September 2026. \n\n\n\nEmail nominations\, with a subject line of AMP Editor Search\, to: Irina Burns (Iburns@aom.org)

SUMMARY:Ask an AMR Associate Editor: Using Foreign Theories in AMR Submissions
DESCRIPTION:Presenters:  Dana Minbaeva and Hossam Zeitoun \n\n\n\nThis session explores how to use foreign theories effectively in submissions to the Academy of Management Review. While such theories can enrich theorizing\, they often remain “theoretical glitter” when not properly translated into organizational contexts. The session introduces a continuum of five modes of use – from illustration to explanation – and clarifies the translation work each requires. It offers practical guidance on avoiding common pitfalls and strengthening interdisciplinary contributions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAsk an AMR AE is a series of informal sessions with the Academy of Management Review’s (AMR) Associate Editors (AEs). Each session begins with a short presentation by one or more associate editors on a specific topic related to publishing in AMR. After the presentation\, the featured AE(s) will answer participants’ questions. These sessions will help authors who are considering submitting their work to AMR and who seek guidance on navigating the publication process. AMR Associate Editors\, Dana Minbaeva and Chak Fu Lam\, are coordinating this series. \n\n\n\nRegistration is not required to attend this event. \n\n\n\n\nJoin the session

SUMMARY:Call for Self-Nominations: Founding Leadership Roles for the AOM Teaching Community
DESCRIPTION:Self-nominations must be received by 10 October 2026.  \n\n\n\nAOM is seeking self-nominations for the following founding leadership roles during its three-year pilot:  \n\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n	\n Teaching Community Founding Chair 	\n	\n \n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n\nThe Teaching Community Founding Chair will provide strategic leadership and coordination for the Teaching Community. This individual will help develop the Community’s leadership structure\, recruit and engage volunteer committee chairs\, shape initial priorities across the three pillars of the Teaching Community\, and champion the Community’s vision across AOM.  \n\n\n\nThis is a unique opportunity for someone energized by building something new and helping shape an initiative that elevates the status and support for teaching within AOM. The ideal candidate will bring a demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning in management\, leadership experience and credibility within AOM and/or the broader management education community\, and the ability to build and convene a new community. Candidates should also be able to engage colleagues across disciplines\, career stages\, geographic regions\, and DIGs\, and have the time to provide active leadership during the Community’s founding phase.  \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTeaching Community Committee Leaders\n\n\n\nDuring its three-year pilot phase\, the Teaching Community leadership structure includes five committees\, each responsible for advancing a priority area.  Initial committee leadership appointments will be for one year\, allowing priority work to move forward while preserving flexibility for the Community’s leadership structure to evolve during the pilot. These initial leadership appointments offer an opportunity to shape and advance a specific area of the Teaching Community while contributing to the development of the broader initiative. Committee leaders will work with the Teaching Community Founding Chair\, other volunteer leaders\, AOM staff\, and relevant Divisions & Interest Groups to develop priorities\, engage volunteers\, and implement activities.  \n\n\n\nAOM is seeking self-nominations for leaders of the following committees:  \n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n	\n Community Engagement Committee	\n	\n \n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n\nThe Community Engagement Committee will help create an active and connected community within AOM where members who are passionate about teaching can connect and collaborate across disciplines\, career stages\, and geographic regions. The committee will help shape engagement through AOM’s online Teaching Community\, welcome new members\, spotlight educators from diverse institutions and regions\, and seed and moderate discussions that spark connection and collaboration among educators.  \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n	\n Annual Meeting Teaching Track Committee 	\n	\n \n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n\nBuilding on the momentum of the inaugural Teaching Track at AOM 2026\, this committee will shape and conceptualize the next iteration of the Teaching Track for AOM 2027 in Vienna\, Austria. This committee will identify and curate teaching-focused programming that elevates the visibility of cross-disciplinary teaching and learning.  \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n	\n Teaching Resource Library Committee	\n	\n \n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n\nThis committee will curate a cross-disciplinary online Teaching Resource Library of interactive exercises\, case studies\, multimedia content\, syllabi\, and data sets accessible to all members. This committee will set the criteria for the library\, peer review submissions\, propose how resources are organized\, and establish recognition for members who share their best teaching materials.  \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n	\n Teaching Webinars Committee	\n	\n \n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n\nTo provide teaching support throughout the year\, this committee will design and deliver a series of professional development webinars that enable all members — from students to seasoned professors — to sharpen the practice of teaching. This committee will identify timely topics\, recruit speakers from across the AOM community\, and grow the community’s webinar series.  \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n\n	\n Teaching Conferences Committee 	\n	\n \n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n\nThis committee will help shape and lead the development of future AOM in-person teaching conferences\, bringing together management educators from around the world to exchange ideas\, share teaching innovations\, and connect with colleagues. The committee will help develop the approach to these events\, including format\, timing\, location\, and programming\, and will engage collaborators and members in their development.  \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSelf-Nomination Process and Procedures\n\n\n\nAOM welcomes self-nominations from members who:  \n\n\n\n\nHave made contributions to the service of teaching\, and \n\n\n\nAre a member of the Academy of Management in good standing. \n\n\n\n\nMembers interested in the leadership roles are asked to submit a self-nomination that includes:  \n\n\n\n\nName\, affiliation\, and contact information \n\n\n\nCurrent curriculum vitae \n\n\n\nThe leadership role or roles you are interested in (you may express interest in more than one) \n\n\n\nA statement (300 words or less) that addresses: \n\n\n\nWhy you are interested in joining the Teaching Community’s founding leadership; \n\n\n\nWhat you bring to the Teaching Community; and \n\n\n\nHow you would shape the Teaching Community \n\n\n\n\nSelf-nominations will be reviewed by the AOM Teaching Committee. SUMMARY:AMP Call for Special Issue Papers: Managing Under Political Turbulence
DESCRIPTION:Submission Deadline: 30 September 2026 \n\n\n\n\nSubmit via the AMP Manuscript Central Site\n\n\n\n\nGuest Editors:\n\n\n\n\nJonathan Doh\, Villanova University\n\n\n\nSrividya Jandhyala\, ESSEC Business School\n\n\n\nYadong Luo\, University of Miami\n\n\n\nGrazia D. Santangelo\, Copenhagen Business School\n\n\n\n\nAMP Associate Editor:\n\n\n\n\nTazeeb Rajwani\, University of Surrey\n\n\n\n\nBackground\n\n\n\nPolitical turbulence is on the rise\, as evidenced most dramatically in violent conflicts (e.g.\, wars\, terrorism attacks)\, volatile political transitions (e.g.\, dramatic regime change\, cuts to government employees\, new geopolitical alliances\, coups)\, and geopolitical tensions (e.g.\, trade wars\, democratic backsliding\, sanctions). This escalated political turbulence exacerbates geopolitical risks for organizations and their stakeholders.1 How should they handle it? \n\n\n\nWhether anticipatory (e.g.\, fear of cyberattacks) or actual (e.g.\, ongoing trade wars\, competition over territories)\, rising geopolitical risks affect organizations in many ways.2 The rise of techno-nationalism\,3 driven by national security and ideological concerns\, challenges the resilience of global technology supply chains. With the rapid development of AI comes misinformation and disinformation that further aggravate political tensions and ideologies. Tariffs\, sanctions\, and protectionist trade restrictions bring escalating compliance risks. Rising populist sentiment drives immigration restrictions and is creating a shortage of high-skill talent for MNEs.4 \n\n\n\nPolitical turbulence has long been a strategic consideration in some sectors such as energy and defense\, but it is now affecting organizations in nearly all sectors\,5 both at home and abroad. At home\, organizations encounter scrutiny from civil society for their operations in countries with questionable international standing.6 Abroad\, they may face interventions by host country governments that vary with their country of origin or type of ownership.  All of this presents considerable challenges for managers and their organizations. \n\n\n\nThis special issue aims to provide actionable\, evidence-based insights that clearly and credibly guide managers and their organizations in navigating the political turbulence that increasingly characterizes the international\, national\, and subnational landscape. We seek to fill in the “glaring white space” of how organizations can best operate under political turbulence\, providing robust insights on which practitioners and policy makers can rely. \n\n\n\nPlease note that AMP’s mission and format differ from many other leading academic journals. AMP papers are managerially driven\, not theory driven. Successful submissions clearly define the managerial issue from the outset and make a compelling case for its importance. They do not simply tack managerial implications onto a standard academic study. Rather\, AMP papers evidence actionable insights that can credibly guide managerial behavior and influence policy decisions. We strongly encourage potential authors to review AMP’s guidelines before submission. Note that we also welcome Practitioner Perspectives essays and Constructive Confrontations papers for this special issue. Guidance for all formats is on our website. \n\n\n\nScope and Open-Ended Research Questions\n\n\n\nFor this special issue\, we welcome rigorous and insightful submissions that address a broad range of political turbulences associated with various adverse events that disrupt organizations\, such as national security clashes\, trade conflicts\, territorial wars\, terrorism\, misinformation\, removal of government officials\, reductions in civil liberties\, etc. Our focus is on providing actionable\, evidence-based insights of how organizations and managers can best comprehend\, influence\, internalize\, adapt\, or mitigate the political risks associated with these changes. Such insights can address firms’ efforts to influence politics and respond to political turbulence\, as well as the impact of political turbulence on firms\, their employees\, and other stakeholders. \n\n\n\nBelow we provide a set of open-ended questions to evoke topics germane to this special issue. These are starting points and are neither comprehensive nor exclusive\, but they’re a good start! \n\n\n\nUnderstanding Different Types and Forms of Political Turbulence. Scholars have distinguished between political risk and uncertainty. Is this classification scheme effective at helping managers understand political turbulence and how to act upon it? Are there better frameworks? \n\n\n\nRethinking Corporate Political Strategies. How should firms integrate corporate political activities (e.g.\, bridging\, lobbying\, alliance-building\, campaigning\, political contributions\, regulatory engagement) to best navigate different types of political turbulence? How should firms address covert political activities (e.g. bribery\, misinformation\, deep fakes)? Which strategies best enable firms to balance global and local political pressures? How should firms deploy corporate diplomacy and activism in an increasingly polarized environment? \n\n\n\nReorganizing and Realigning Geographically Diversified Operations. How can organizations from various regions\, countries\, and sectors respond and adapt to rapid and often unforeseen political change? How can managers prepare for and be more resilient in the face of these changes? Which organizational structures best support flexibility and resilience in uncertain environments? How should leaders determine which operations to decouple or restructure? \n\n\n\nManaging Stakeholder Nationalism. Nationalist sentiment can influence consumer and shareholder behavior and penalize organizations for their political stands and countries of origin. Under what conditions should organizations disengage from\, reduce\, or change their political activities? Which strategies can organizations adopt to avoid being perceived as political actors? \n\n\n\nThe Role of New Technologies. What are the best ways to use AI\, blockchain\, and other digital technologies and intelligence to inform decision-making and improve risk management in a politically turbulent environment? Can firms use such technologies for regulatory compliance and operational agility at the same time? Which new methods (e.g.\, AI/machine learning\, field experience\, political training) are best suited to providing an early warning system? What are the trade-offs between quality of insights versus cost of development for such systems? \n\n\n\nManaging Corporate Innovation. Groundbreaking innovation often requires combining knowledge and innovation from different sources and locations. How can organizations preserve innovation opportunities despite the increased national security focus? How should organizations evaluate the trade-offs in local versus global efforts in innovation? Which strategies allow them to exploit innovations in new technologies such as AI\, quantum computing\, and biotechnology while balancing regulatory/political obligations? \n\n\n\nNavigating the Race for Talent. The knowledge and social capital of highly skilled migrant workers provides critical insights and valuable connections across borders. Yet political turbulence fosters a populism sentiment that drives anti-immigration policies. How should firms manage talent across borders under these conditions? \n\n\n\nWe welcome both conceptual and empirical papers that are grounded in rigorous analysis and directly evidence specific and significant managerial and policy actions. We welcome accounts of embodied\, lived experiences of specific political turbulence and the use of reflexive methodologies. Quantitative analyses of large databases\, qualitative comparative analyses\, and extensive data analysis using linguistic programs and algorithms are also fair game. In short\, we want papers that prove what can or does work in ways that managers and policymakers can use. \n\n\n\nDeadline\, Submission\, and Review Process\n\n\n\nThe final deadline is 30 September 2026 at 23:59 ET (DST+1\, UTC-4). All submissions must be uploaded to the AMP Manuscript https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ampCentral website between 1 September 2026 and 30 September 2026\, inclusive. \n\n\n\nAll papers will be reviewed according to the current policies of Academy of Management Perspectives. AMP papers should be grounded in robust empirical evidence or conceptual frameworks\, address relevant real-world managerial and policy issues\, offer actionable insights\, avoid theory fetish\, and be written in a style accessible to non-specialists and practitioners. \n\n\n\nWe intend to host a Paper Development Workshop for selected authors to further develop their manuscripts. Participation in this workshop is neither a guarantee nor a prerequisite for publication.  \n\n\n\nEndnotes\n\n\n\n1. G.K. Adarkwah\, S. Dorobantu\, C.A. Sabel\, and F. SUMMARY:Teaching Community: Curious Educator: Practical Classroom Innovations for Impact – Session 1
DESCRIPTION:The Curious Educator Webinar\n\n\n\nWhat makes a curious educator? And how do we know when to keep refining what works and when to explore something different? \n\n\n\nManagement educators have always adapted and experimented in their classrooms. But AI\, changing student expectations\, new approaches to assessment\, and a rapidly evolving world of work are creating new questions about what and how we teach. SUMMARY:Teaching Community: Curious Educator: Practical Classroom Innovations for Impact – Session 2
SUMMARY:CAP: Emerging Dynamics\, Tensions\, and Challenges of Artificial Intelligence in Organizations: A Critical Perspective from Organization Studies
DESCRIPTION:Presented in collaboration with AOM’s Community Accelerator Program\, this Spanish-language webinar hosted by the Laboratorio Internacional en Ciencias de la Gestión Pública presents a critical examination of artificial intelligence (AI) in organizations from the perspective of Organization Studies (OS). It approaches AI as a socio-technical technology that reshapes organizational capabilities\, routines\, control regimes\, employment relations\, decision-making rationalities\, and power relations. \n\n\n\nThe discussion will address key issues such as the implications of AI for work\, algorithmic management\, AI as an organizational capability\, power\, inequality\, and strategic tensions. The webinar will conclude by proposing a research agenda grounded in the Latin American context. \n\n\n\nThe central question guiding the discussion is not what AI can do for organizations\, but rather what kinds of organizations\, forms of work\, and social order AI contributes to producing. \n\n\n\nThis webinar is organized with the support of the Management Consulting (MC) Division of the Academy of Management\, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen its engagement with the Latin American academic and professional community and to foster critical dialogue on emerging challenges for organizations and management. \n\n\n\n\nRegister now

SUMMARY:The Asia-Pacific Academic Mental Health Symposium
DESCRIPTION:Recent decades have seen rising scholarly\, policy\, and media attention towards the mental health of university populations. While there is strong evidence of mental health concerns among students\, there are also distinct challenges facing staff and especially academic workers: excessive workloads\, job insecurity\, and managerial and regulatory burdens can all lead to burnout\, stress\, and mental health concerns in academia. At the same time\, scholars have advocated for more caring conditions and practices in universities as central to understanding\, supporting\, and strengthening wellbeing.  The inaugural Asia-Pacific Academic Mental Health Symposium will create a dedicated and supportive space for sharing new research\, insights\, and practices that focus specifically on mental health in academia. The theme of the 2026 event is “The complexities and conditions of academic workers’ mental health” and we invite you to join us there. Both in-person and online attendance options are available.

SUMMARY:Concepts & Tools for Research Methods: Data Structures and Statistical Models
DESCRIPTION:Delivery: Live and virtual \n\n\n\nConnect the way research data is structured to the statistical models used to analyze it. Designed primarily for doctoral students building their methods foundation \n\n\n\nWhat to Expect\n\n\n\nData analyzed in organizational research frequently violates the basic regression assumption that errors are independent and unrelated to predictors. This tutorial uses examples and simple illustrations to show why this non-independence can be problematic in both cross-sectional and longitudinal data. The tutorial also gives a high-level overview of common ways to address non-independence\, with a focus on how addressing non-independence can expand a researcher’s research methods repertoire and strengthen the theory-methods-data link. \n\n\n\nPresenter\n\n\n\nDr. Paul Bliese\, University of South Carolina \n\n\n\nPaul D. Bliese is the Department Chair and Jeff B. Bates Chaired Professor in the Management Department at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. He received a Ph.D. from Texas Tech University. After graduate school\, he worked for 22 years at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and retired as a Colonel. Throughout his career\, Dr. Bliese has led efforts to use statistical methods to answer complex organizational problems and advance theory and practice. He developed and maintains the multilevel package for R and has published in a variety of journals\, including the Academy of Management Journal\, the Journal of Applied Psychology\, the Journal of Management\, Organizational Research Methods\, and Organization Science. He served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Applied Psychology from 2010 to 2017 and as the Editor in Chief for Organizational Research Methods from 2017 to 2021. In 2024\, he began a new role as the first Deputy Editor for Research Methods for the Academy of Management Journal. \n\n\n\nRegister for the tutorial series\n\n\n\nOne registration includes all four live tutorials\, their released resources\, and related program activities. \n\n\n\n\nLogin to register
