Academy of Management Scholar Sally Maitlis of the University of Oxford is a Fellow of the British Academy, the U.K.’s national academy for the humanities and the social sciences.
Before coming to Oxford Saïd, Maitlis was a professor of organizational behavior at the University of British Columbia. She has a Ph.D. in organizational behavior from the University of Sheffield and a doctorate in counseling psychology and psychotherapy from Middlesex University.

Maitlis conducts research into how individuals deal with challenging work issues, including individuals whose careers have been derailed and identities undermined by physical injury, those who encounter intractable problems in pursuing their calling, and leaders who are dealing with mental-health difficulties.
In 2023, she was named Distinguished Scholar by the Academy of Management’s Managerial and Organizational Cognition Division.
