Iberoamerican Academy of Management (IAM)

2026 Affiliate Professional Development Program (PDW) Call for Submissions

PDW Co-Chairs: Gabriela (Gaby) Contreras, Radboud University and Maria Jose (Majo) Murcia, IAE Business School, University Austral

The Iberoamerican Academy of Management (IAM) invites the submission of creative proposals for Professional Development Workshop (PDW) sessions to be held at the 86th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management, taking place 31 July – 4 August 2026 in Philadelphia, USA. PDWs offer an outstanding platform for colleagues to share knowledge, exchange expertise, and foster participants’ professional development.

IAM Objectives

IAM’s mission is guided by two primary objectives:

  1. To promote the advancement of knowledge in the theory and practice of management among Iberoamerican scholars and all academics interested in Iberoamerican issues.
  1. To support educational activities that strengthen intellectual and operational leadership in management within an Iberoamerican context.

While IAM emphasizes its Iberoamerican focus—Latin America, Latino populations in North America, and Spain/Portugal—it warmly welcomes diverse perspectives that enrich dialogue, collaboration, and insight. More information about IAM is available on the website

Suggested Topics Aligned With the Conference Theme

Repolarization
  • How can the Iberoamerican experience contribute valuable insights in times of uncertainty?
  • In what ways do deglobalization and geopolitical instability affect Iberoamerican organizations?
  • Old problems through new lenses: How can traditional challenges faced by Iberoamerican organizations be revisited in light of rapid societal change? Conversely, how might longstanding challenges in non-Iberoamerican contexts be addressed using local Iberoamerican perspectives?
  • Looking ahead: What new opportunities and challenges arise for organizations in the age of AI, cybersecurity, conflict, and polarization?
Social Justice

Global polarization and heightened demands for social justice have intensified turmoil throughout Iberoamerica.

  • What does diversity mean in Iberoamerican contexts?
  • Should Iberoamerican countries adopt Anglo-American models of gender, race, diversity, and inclusion?

PDW Proposal Guidelines

We welcome proposals that advance management theory, research, education, and practice within IAM’s objectives. PDWs may take many forms—roundtables, panels, developmental workshops, practitioner sessions, doctoral consortia, and more. Proposals will be evaluated for relevance, novelty, creativity, and potential to engage participants.

We especially encourage PDWs that are:

  • Innovative – experimenting with new formats, models, or ideas
  • Provocative – energizing participants before, during, and after the meeting
  • Experiential – grounded in principles of practical, hands-on learning
  • Interactive – encouraging participant engagement and diverse viewpoints
  • Inclusive – offering value to students, faculty, practitioners, and international members
  • Integrative – bridging divisions and international perspectives
  • Developmental – fostering networking and collaboration
  • Valuable – enriching participants with tools, relationships, insights, or projects

We also welcome proposals that appeal to other AOM divisions and committees. Please identify potential co-sponsors in your submission. All proposals must include a statement confirming that all listed PDW participants have agreed to take part.

Please note AOM’s “Rule of Three”: no individual may submit or be associated with more than three PDW submissions, nor appear in more than three PDW sessions during the Friday–Saturday pre-conference period. Proposals that violate this rule may be rejected. Space and time are limited, so acceptance cannot be guaranteed.

Submission Information

  • Submission period opens: Early December 2025
  • Deadline: 13 January 2026 (17:00 ET / UTC-5)
  • Please follow the AOM PDW Submission Guidelines and submit via the AOM Submission Center

We look forward to receiving your proposals and to your active participation in the IAOM PDWs!
