Call for Submissions
Organizational Neuroscience and Biology Interest Group (NEUB)
2026 Call for Scholarly Program Submissions
Division Program Chair: Georgios Christopoulos, Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; Decision, Environmental & Organizational Neuroscience Lab (DEONLab)
The Organizational Neuroscience and Biology Interest Group (NEUB) invites symposia, papers (including empirical, conceptual, methodological, and future research), and poster submissions for the 86th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management (AOM), which will take place in Philadelphia, USA, from 31 July to 4 August 2026.
NEUB is dedicated to using neuroscience and biology knowledge and approaches at different levels in organizations, as well as promoting linkages to management practice.
Specific Domain
NEUB encourages knowledge generation through theoretical propositions and/or empirical evidence about the neural and biological mechanisms associated with behavior in the workplace. Concurrently, the interest group seeks to understand how the environment, culture, and institutions can affect organizational actors’ nervous system functioning. By considering neuroscience and biology at different levels of analysis in organizations, we encourage interdisciplinarity and multi-methods research. Moreover, we stress ethical considerations when using neuroscience and biology technology in workplace research.
Special Instructions
NEUB welcomes submissions from scholars at all stages of their careers, including doctoral students. NEUB is particularly interested in micro, meso, and macro-level contributions that span various traditional fields, such as OB, entrepreneurship, strategy, research methods, HR, and more. We encourage submitting articles focused on empirical, conceptual, methodological, and/or ‘future research’ plans, as well as thought-provoking symposia that provide attendees with opportunities to explore new ideas in the field.
At this AOM Annual Meeting, NEUB is introducing new submission formats in addition to traditional paper and symposium submissions. In line with the spirit of this year’s AOM meeting, we are also calling for “Poster” submissions. Additionally, due to the nature of our field and our alignment with the most recent journal practices (e.g., preregistration), we include a ‘Future Research’ track. We request that authors specify the type of paper submission on the first page of their manuscripts (see details below). All manuscripts must be submitted through the AOM Submission Center following the specified guidelines, formatting, and style, regardless of the chosen submission type. Please note the AOM policy stating that papers and poster submissions must be submitted to only one DIG.
Type of Papers
- Conceptual: These submissions encompass any topic within NEUB’s focus, and may also include comprehensive reviews, meta-analyses, or systematic/bibliometric studies. Theoretical manuscripts should exhibit strong deductive reasoning and contribute through a propositional model or equivalent theoretical output.
- Empirical: The most common submission type at NEUB, these papers can cover any topic within NEUB’s scope. Empirical work must uphold high methodological standards and can employ various approaches contributing to NEUB’s aims and scope.
- Methodological Manuscripts: Focused on innovative developments in research methods closely related to NEUB, these papers might present novel methodologies, and unique applications of existing processes, share best practices, or challenge current methodological norms.
- Future Research Manuscripts: Designed for research work performed before data collection, are akin to journal preregistrations, and do not require empirical evidence. These papers should present well-developed theoretical and methodological foundations aligned with NEUB’s aims. Submissions should detail the research question, literature background, hypotheses, experimental design, analysis plan, sampling strategy, and, where/if relevant or available any pilot data.
Posters
Each poster submission will require an extended abstract manuscript, which will be reviewed. If accepted, participants will prepare a visually engaging poster summarizing their research findings, methods, and conclusions. These posters often feature graphs, images, and text to clearly present the information and facilitate discussions. Specifically, we require the extended abstract to be up to 7 pages (5 pages manuscript and 2 additional pages for references and/or tables/figures) which should include:
- Introduction: Briefly outline the research question, its significance, and how it relates to the conference theme.
- Theoretical Background: Describe the underlying theory or conceptual framework.
- Methodology: Provide a summary of the methods used or planned (if applicable).
- Findings/Expected Outcomes: Include key insights or anticipated contributions (even for early-stage research).
- Conclusions/Implications: Discuss the potential impact of your work on organizational studies or related fields.
- References, Tables, Figures, and any Additional Material (2 pages).
Posters should be visually engaging and communicate the key ideas and findings of the research. As a general indication, posters should not exceed A0 size (84.1 cm x 118.9 cm / 33.1 in x 46.8 in) in portrait orientation. Posters should include a concise title, clear introduction, brief methods, key findings or expected results, and conclusions or implications. Visual elements such as figures, diagrams, and tables are strongly encouraged to make your research more accessible.
Poster sessions will take place Friday, 31 July through Tuesday, 4 August 2026.
Symposia
To prepare a strong symposia submission, it is essential to curate a cohesive and engaging session that aligns with the focus of NEUB. The proposal should provide a clear rationale for the session, emphasizing how it integrates neuroscience and biological perspectives with organizational topics. Submissions must highlight scholarly contributions, novelty, and relevance. Including a diverse set of presenters, both in terms of institutions and geographical representation strengthens the proposal. Each presentation within the symposium should complement the others, creating a comprehensive discussion that advances theoretical and practical understanding in the field.
Key Dates
Please note the following key dates:
- Submission Center opening announcement: early December 2025
- Submission Deadline: Tuesday, 13 January 2026 at 17:00 ET (UTC-5/GMT-5)
- PDWs will take place Friday, 31 July through Sunday, 2 August 2026.

Reviewing for NEUB
We aim to provide developmental feedback to submitters and to achieve this, we need your support. Please sign up to review for the NEUB Interest Group in early December 2025. Your reviewer assignments will be based on the keywords you indicate as your areas of expertise. We are grateful for your willingness to volunteer and contribute to the program in this important way.
Awards
NEUB will retain the discretion to consider the accepted submissions for the following awards:
- Best Paper (submitted to NEUB)
- Best Student Paper (the paper may be co-authored, but the student must have a central role in it)
- Best Symposium
The winner(s) of the Best Paper and Best Student Paper award will receive a plaque.
If you have any questions, please contact the NEUB Program Chair Georgios Christopoulos.
