Social Issues in Management Division (SIM)
2026 Call for Scholarly Program Submissions
Division Program Chair: Punit Arora, City University of New York, USA
The SIM Division seeks submissions for the scholarly program sessions (31 July to 4 August 2026) at the 86th Academy of Management (AOM) Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The role of SIM scholarship is crucial in today’s world. As organizations and societies grapple with escalating geopolitical tensions, democracy backsliding, biodiversity loss, climate change, forced displacement, and widening socio-economic inequalities, the importance of responsible management has never been more apparent. We invite submissions that explore how ethical practices, governance structures, and innovative stakeholder engagement can effectively address these—and similar—pressing global challenges.
We welcome SIM-aligned contributions that push the boundaries of scholarship across a variety of topics, including, but not limited to, ethical decision-making, moral development, corporate social responsibility, corporate social performance, stakeholder engagement and relationships, sustainable development, environmental management, base-of-the-pyramid initiatives, social entrepreneurship, public policy, governance, and corporate political strategy.
For more detailed information about the types of research fitting our domain, please visit the SIM website.
In addition to research papers and symposia, this year’s scholarly program will feature expanded poster formats and virtual asynchronous presentations. Professional Development Workshops (PDWs) will take place from 31 July to 2 August 2026, and scholarly sessions (including paper sessions and symposia) will take place from Sunday, 2 August to Tuesday, 4 August 2026. Poster sessions will take place Friday, 31 July through Tuesday, 4 August 2026.
Submission Details
The Submission Center will open in December and the deadline for papers, symposia, posters, and PDWs is Tuesday, 13 January 2026
(17:00 ET GMT/UTC-5). Please try to submit earlier if possible. Please pay close attention to submission guidelines. AOM Program Chairs have agreed to apply them rigorously and reject papers that do not conform. All submissions must be made online.
The SIM Division recognizes outstanding scholarship through numerous awards, including the Outstanding Paper, Outstanding Student Paper, Outstanding Ethics Paper, Outstanding Dissertation, Outstanding Book, and Outstanding Reviewer awards. Award winners are announced at the SIM Business Meeting.
Finally, we urge every SIM member to sign up to review. The strength of our program—and the vitality of our community—depend on your participation. The collegial norm within SIM is clear: if you submit a paper, symposium, or PDW to the SIM Division, you are also expected to review for SIM. Thoughtful and timely reviews are crucial to developing our annual program and mentoring authors at various career stages. Reviewer assignments are based on your indicated areas of expertise.
