Organizational Neuroscience and Biology Interest Group (NEUB)
2026 Call for Professional Development Workshop (PDW) Proposals
Division PDW Chair: Danni Wang, Rutgers Business School, USA
The Organizational Neuroscience and Biology Interest Group (NEUB) of the Academy of Management (AOM) invites you to submit Professional Development Workshop (PDW) proposals for the 86th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management (AOM), which will take place in Philadelphia, USA, from 31 July to 4 August 2026. The NEUB PDWs will be scheduled for Friday, 31 July through Sunday, 2 August 2026.
NEUB Overall Domain
NEUB encourages knowledge generation through theoretical propositions and/or empirical evidence about the neural and biological mechanisms associated with behavior in the workplace. Concurrently, the interest group seeks to understand how the environment, culture, and institutions can affect organizational actors’ nervous system functioning. By considering neuroscience and biology at different levels of analysis in organizations, we encourage interdisciplinarity and multi-methods research. Moreover, we stress ethical considerations when using neuroscience and biology technology in workplace research.
PDWs at NEUB
The most successful PDWs at NEUB ignite thought-provoking discussions, sparking passionate reactions among participants and fostering an engaging environment that encourages active involvement. These sessions not only cultivate enthusiasm but also inspire attendees to maintain deliberate engagement even after the event concludes. We value innovative approaches that actively contribute to enhancing the growth and knowledge acquisition of NEUB members and the broader Academy of Management community. We applaud PDWs that significantly reinforce learning experiences and we encourage organizers to break away from conventional scholarly frameworks and instead curate an experience that distinctly embodies the essence of a “NEUB PDW”.
PDW sessions serve as a platform for NEUB members to engage in fresh and inventive interactions. We aim to support PDW sessions in a diverse array of formats, encompassing workshops, panel discussions, tutorials, breakout sessions, debates, round tables, and so forth. However, our particular interest lies in proposals that demonstrate innovation, integration, developmental focus, and inclusivity. We strongly encourage submissions that push the boundaries by experimenting with novel formats or exploring condensed, dynamic forms of interaction. Proposals that promise distinctive and engaging experiences for participants are highly encouraged.
When shaping your proposals, keep in mind that at NEUB, we value PDWs that foster connections across diverse theoretical approaches and methodologies pertaining to organizational neuroscience. We encourage initiatives that facilitate the building of bridges between different perspectives within the field and across the wider DIGs at the Academy of Management.
We will give priority to submissions that: (a) are truly PDWs comprising some interactive or skill-development component, and that take a particular focus on community building; (b) are intellectually stimulating; and, (c) are likely to appeal to a broad range of members within and beyond NEUB.
Please be sure to follow the Academy of Management’s PDW Guidelines for Submission in preparing your submission.
PDW submissions should be made through the Academy’s Submission Center website. The Submission Center will open in early December 2025. The submission deadline is Tuesday, 13 January 2026 at 17:00 ET (UTC-5/GMT-5).
You are welcome and encouraged to discuss potential PDWs with PDW chair, Danni Wang, Rutgers Business School, US, before submitting your proposal. Please use ‘PDW AOM 2026’ as a subject line.
