From the President
As AOM President, I am genuinely pleased to introduce this new initiative — one that reflects a shared commitment to strengthening teaching and learning across our global community. As professors and academics, we each research different knowledge domains, but we all have teaching in common. That common ground is the foundation of everything we are building here…
Selected Projects Advancing Vision 2030
The following four Teaching & Learning Innovation projects were selected for funding through the Academy of Management’s Teaching & Learning Innovation Fund, the first initiative launched by the Board of Governors Teaching Committee. These projects reflect the committee’s commitment to advancing innovative teaching practices, enhancing learning experiences, and supporting the development of resources that benefit management educators and students worldwide:
- MED – Empowering Management Educators and Students with AI Literacy through the UNESCO AI Competency Framework (Joseph Budu, Eleanor Akoto, Emmanuel Antwi-Boasiako)
- MED – Workshop Series on Elevating Management Education in the Era of AI, the Metaverse, and Gamification (Nibu John Thomas, Oliver Crocco, Rupashree Baral)
- RM – Innovations in Teaching Research Methods: A Virtual Conference on AI and Pedagogical Tools (Mike Withers, Lindsey Greco, Jason Huang)
- SAP – Teaching Innovations for SAP (Matthias Wenzel, Fannie Couture, Alex Christian, Paul Spee, Dirk Lindebaum)
Management education is not only an academic profession, but also a meaningful way to contribute to society. It shaped my hope that, through teaching, I can help business leaders think more deeply about people, organizations, fairness, responsibility, and long-term value.

Don’t attach too much value to the narrative that research is more important than teaching. When you study cancer, this may be true. In our field, it isn’t. Most of us have more and more immediate impact, positive or negative, on our students than on our readers.

Both higher education and the world of work are evolving rapidly, particularly because of technological change and AI-driven transformation. As educators, we must evolve as well, not only by adopting new technologies, but also by continually finding ways to promote critical thinking, curiosity, adaptability, and higher-order learning.
