Governance Policies
AOM Governance Policies
All AOM policy is developed and vetted by the Board of Governors.
AOM’s Code of Conduct
The Academy of Management (AOM) is committed to fostering a professional, inclusive, and respectful environment at the Annual Meeting and at all AOM events. All participants are required to conduct themselves professionally, adhering to the AOM Code of Ethics and AOM Code of Conduct to ensure an environment in which all individuals feel safe and valued while learning, networking and collaborating.
Campaigning Policy
The Academy of Management values elections that are free of active “politicking.” It is certainly appropriate to ask fellow members of the Academy for further information about a candidate you do not know. However, recommending candidates to others or actively campaigning is inappropriate and inconsistent with the way we operate as an association. This applies to general elections in the Academy as well as to division/interest group elections.
AOM Policy on Taking Stands
The Academy of Management does not take political stands. Officers and leaders are bound by this policy and may not make publicly stated political views in the name of the AOM or through use of AOM resources. However, under exceptional circumstances, and with the consensual support of the Executive Committee and approval of the Board of Governors, the President is authorized to issue a statement on behalf of the AOM when a public policy action threatens the existence, purpose, or functioning of the AOM as an organization.
