5 November @ 11:00 – 12:00 EST

As world leaders gather in Antalya, Türkiye, for the COP31 climate conference in November 2026, management education has a vital role to plan in preparing the next generation of leaders to solve sustainability challenges. AOM’s Teaching Community and the Organizations and the Natural Environment (ONE) Division Teaching Team invite educators to this webinar to explore practical ways to teach sustainability in management education from leading educators.

How do we help students navigate sustainability’s complexity?

Teaching sustainability asks educators to move beyond familiar, single-answer problems. Students need to examine how organizations depend on natural and social systems, weigh competing priorities, and recognize the unintended consequences of managerial decisions. These challenges arise across courses and career stages, yet educators often have few opportunities to compare what has worked in their classrooms.

In this webinar, three award-winning educators will reflect on innovations to engage students in sustainability. Their perspectives will open a broader conversation about experiential learning, difficult trade-offs, and approaches that can be adapted across institutions, courses, and student audiences.

Why it matters for educators

Educators attending this webinar will hear concrete examples of sustainability teaching and consider how to adapt them to their own classrooms. The discussion will connect the perspectives of early-career and experienced educators, with time for audience questions.

Speakers

Fernanda Carreira is the recipient of ONE’s 2026 Early Career Teaching Award. Robert Sroufe is a previous recipient of a ONE teaching award. Xiaolong Shui will moderate the conversation.
