Call for Self-Nominations: Founding Leadership Roles for the AOM Teaching Community

AOM is seeking self-nominations for the following founding leadership roles during its three-year pilot:
Teaching Community Committee Leaders
During its three-year pilot phase, the Teaching Community leadership structure includes five committees, each responsible for advancing a priority area. Initial committee leadership appointments will be for one year, allowing priority work to move forward while preserving flexibility for the Community’s leadership structure to evolve during the pilot. These initial leadership appointments offer an opportunity to shape and advance a specific area of the Teaching Community while contributing to the development of the broader initiative. Committee leaders will work with the Teaching Community Founding Chair, other volunteer leaders, AOM staff, and relevant Divisions & Interest Groups to develop priorities, engage volunteers, and implement activities.
AOM is seeking self-nominations for leaders of the following committees:
Self-Nomination Process and Procedures
AOM welcomes self-nominations from members who:
- Have made contributions to the service of teaching, and
- Are a member of the Academy of Management in good standing.
Members interested in the leadership roles are asked to submit a self-nomination that includes:
- Name, affiliation, and contact information
- Current curriculum vitae
- The leadership role or roles you are interested in (you may express interest in more than one)
- A statement (300 words or less) that addresses:
- Why you are interested in joining the Teaching Community’s founding leadership;
- What you bring to the Teaching Community; and
- How you would shape the Teaching Community
Self-nominations will be reviewed by the AOM Teaching Committee. Members interested in a role are welcome to reach out to [email protected] with questions.

Selection Process
The AOM Teaching Committee will review self-nominations and consider candidates based on the experience and leadership qualities described above. Some candidates for the Teaching Community Founding Chair may be invited to a brief conversation with Committee representatives before the Founding Chair is selected. The Committee expects to complete the Founding Chair selection shortly after the nomination deadline.
Candidates expressing interest in Teaching Community Committee leadership roles will be considered as the Community’s initial leadership is assembled. Committee leadership appointments may be made at different points based on the needs and timing of individual initiatives.
Information Session
The AOM Board’s Teaching Committee will host an informational webinar in September for members interested in learning more about the Teaching Community and its founding leadership opportunities. Details and registration information will be available soon.
